Senegal Evacuates 46 Citizens from CAR

Senegal’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Mankeur Ndiaye, on Friday, said it had evacuated 46 of its citizens from the Central African Republic (CAR) to Dakar.

He said that the evacuation, conducted on Thursday night, was made possible with the collaboration of the Malian government.

Ndiaye said the exercise included 10 Malians but that Mali had earlier evacuated its citizens from CAR, which had been in the throes of internecine violence since last year.

The minister noted that the Senegal government had so far spent 14.5 million dollars in the process of evacuating 750 of its citizens from CAR.

Each of the 46 Senegalese evacuated from CAR received 207 dollars upon arrival at the airport, the minister added.
